Overview

Keep your eyes peeled, as you're likely to stride straight past it on your purposeful march to burger domination. It's where Crazy Horse Steak House used to be, and has tasteful, unassuming signage.

Focusing on the essentials – yup, you guessed it – burgers and liquor, the menu is considerably concise. The Standard burger, with ground chuck and short rib beef, cheddar, tomato ketchup, bourbon mustard mayo ($9) is reminiscent of a McDonald's cheeseburger, in a good way. The Pork burger, with crispy pork belly slices, spring onions, pickled cucumber aind hoisin sauce ($13) is a winner. Vegetarian options are available, too. They even have a Quinoa Burger ($11). No, they aren't joking. All burgers are made with a delicious brioche bun, and hold together unbelievably well. Although delicious, the burgers are a little on the small side, so we recommend getting some crinkle cut fries ($4) or onion rings ($6) on the side. The prawn cocktail is delicious, if a little on the spendy side ($9).

As for the liquor. Well. We went for a cool Zeffer Cider ($9), but after a second read wished we'd tried the alcoholic milkshakes. Yeah, these guys know what's up. Alcoholic. Milkshakes.

The staff members are all extremely welcoming, making dining in an enjoyable option. Being so centrally located and offering both takeaway and dine in options, Burger Liquor does an absolutely roaring trade around lunch time. If you can hold on til around 1.30pm you'll find most of the crowds have cleared, and your food will be in front of you before you've had time to read the menu a second time.

The dining area is separate from the bar and takeaway waiting area, which is great for a more peaceful dining experience. The digs are pretty cool – you can't help but feel that you're sitting in the middle of Pinterest.  Exposed brick walls and plywood booths suggest a contemporary variation of a 1950s diner. Your bill is presented clipped to a small vinyl record. Way cute.
