Overview

There's a little piece of Texas nestled in the basement beneath the Dunbar Sloane auction rooms in the heart of Wellington's CBD. A pancake and waffle lovers dream, Drexel's Breakfast Restaurant offers everyone's favourite meal all day, every day, the USA way.  So, if you've got a craving for massive piles of tasty goodness in a seemingly endless variety of combinations, then this comfy diner is for you. Doing Uncle Sam proud, from the roomy booths to the whipped butter and grape jam - or should that be jelly? - the portions are generous and the service is tip worthy.

There's a little atmosphere missing, but as you swirl the last of your bacon in the molten pool of maple syrup on your plate, that'll be the last thing on your mind. That's because your brain pan will have been wiped cleam by tasting the best buttermilk pancakes in the city (if not the country).  Fluffy, fat and oh-so-sweet, Drexel's pancakes are an absolute breakfast must-have.
If that's not enough to get your butt in one of Drexel's booths then it might help you to know the  coffee is bottomless, and surprisingly good.
But then everything on the breakfast-only restaurant's substantial menu is a breakfast must-have - you literally cannot go wrong here. If you're looking for some carbo-load comfort food, or to spice up with some tex-mex-brex, then you want to head here.
