Overview

Joe's is one of the better looking burger/BYO joints in town, dressed in the 'styled/Swedish-industrial' look which is currently a thing in the restaurant circuit. They pull it off well - the exposed brick back wall, olive green booths, simple, minimal hanging lights and a few art deco pictures tactfully hung in various spots are very easy on the eyes.

My friend and I decided to hide away in one of the booths in the corner, me devouring their portobello mushroom burger (served with beetroot, Swiss cheese, minted yoghurt, lettuce and hand-cut chips) and him taking on the lamb burger (roasted lamb with halloumi, tomatoes, red onion, rocket and also a side of hand-cut chips). The real show-stealer of our meals was the dipping sauce for the chips, a secret alchemy which (to this day) I still can't figure out the ingredients of.

Ordering either the lamb or beef burger at Joe's is always a good option, with mouth-watering lamb and juicy steaks which will leave you begging for more. Unfortunately the mushroom burger does not join them in the taste leagues. Vegetarians look elsewhere for your burger fix.

Nevertheless, with great meat burgers and a free BYO policy after 5pm, the upmarket deco-style burger bar is a night time favourite amongst the carnivorous younger and older demographic alike.
