Wake up and smell the beans at The Batch Cafe. This Invercargill hotspot was one of the first New Zealand venues to directly import fair trade coffee and feature around 20 different beans. A cup of the Hummingbird coffee pairs perfectly with the throng of sweet treats available. Freshly baked on site, using the best local produce and no artificial flavourings, they're devilishly good. We recommend the orange and date scones — get in early as they sell out quick — the chocolate berry brownies or the caramel slice.

The cafe is open every day from 7.30am, serving both brunch and lunch, and offers a variety of takeaway options if you need to grab a bite on the run. Situated in the heart of Invercargill, it's the perfect place to kick off your day of exploration.
