After ringing in the 2015 with an all-star line-up and their usual flamboyant display of pyrotechnics, the folks behind New Year's festival Rhythm and Vines are at it again - this time with a new business model and with a few changes on the cards.

After the well publicised behavioural issues of last year’s BW Summer Festival, organisers have announced that the format can no longer continue and it will now be rebranded into a beachfront campsite. Known as Beachfront, the site will lower its capacity from 8000 to just 3500 campers and will not forge ahead with the traditional evening concerts and BYO policy; there will however be a beach bar.

To accommodate the additional festival-goers, Waiohika Estate and the R&V Onsite Camping will be used to its full 6000 capacity. More premium accommodation will be available and the facilities will be given an overhaul, including some new additions like an onsite swimming lake. The alcohol policy has also been adjusted, though will continue to be a limited BYO.

Further changes include: reduced ticket prices, an earlier opening time of 2pm, a refurbished Vines Stage, and plan for a new enclosed structure called Rhythm Arena. The festival product is certainly matured and looks to be distancing itself from the young intoxicated attendees of previous years.

The thirteenth annual Rhythm and Vines is set to take place at Gisborne’s Waiohika Estate from December 29 - 31. 2015. The festival’s programmers are currently taking on artist suggestions and feedback via their social media pages, with a release of lineup due in late July.
