Overview

Once again Silo Cinema hits the nail on the head with its well-considered and varied selection of films on offer throughout the summer season. Adding a bit of necessary weirdness to the mix is Monty Python's Life of Brian, showing on Friday 27 January to kick off Auckland Anniversary Weekend with a bang and good old-fashioned chuckle.

The 1979 cult film (a religious satire comedy) starring and written by Monty Python, follows a young Jewish man born on the same day, next door to Jesus Christ, and is subsequently mistaken for the Messiah. Monty Python excelled in walking their brand of comedy along the delicate line between being gratuitously controversial and supremely clever and observant. Whichever way you take it, this film is undeniably funny and will inject a bit of cinematic nostalgia into your Friday night.

As always at Silo Cinema events there will be food trucks, markets and a bar open from 5pm, so come along and appreciate one of the classics as the sun sets on the start of a long weekend.
