Touring their new album, with more members and more heartbreak than ever.

Having played in Wellington's cutest venues, second-hand bookshops and community halls over the last six years, dream-folk group French for Rabbits are back on the live circuit to tour their new album.

Wellington-based French for Rabbits' second full-length album, The Weight of Melted Snow, reflects on the melancholy and loss of the recent break-up of a longstanding relationship between the group's two founding members, while reassuring us it will be okay when the lights go out. The ambient dream-folk group's return as a quintet with even more wistful and nostalgic stories to tell, yet more resolve and strength in their sound than ever.

Touring the album from the country's end to end in March and April, FFR have added extra band members and a fuller sound to their often sparse and whispered tunes, even bringing a few calypso drums into the mix. Previous shows have been of the sort where you sit cross-legged on the ground, gripped by Brooke Singer's soft and lovely voice, so no need to wear your dancing shoes.

French for Rabbits are playing on April Fools Day at San Fran in Wellington, with dates around Aotearoa on either side coinciding with the weather getting a little colder and the mornings a little darker. Listen to and buy the album on Bandcamp, and get tickets via Undertheradar.
