Overview

Baby-faced electronic producer Rustie will make his first ever appearance in New Zealand this April.

The Scottish musician is known for his application of the often-debated sub-genre aquacrunk (otherwise known as wonky, street bass or purple sound), a classification of electronic music that uses wobbly mid-range synths alongside unusual time signatures. His strong interest in video games is said to be a major influence in his approach to composition and his songs 'After Light','Ultra Thizz' and 'Surph' were even used in the soundtrack to action-adventure game Sleeping Dogs.

Since 2007 Rustie has released one album and three EPs. His debut album Glass Swords received an outstanding 8.0 from Pitchfork and comparisons to Metallica, Daft Punk, Kraftwerk and Rihanna.
