Midnight Youth
Returning to The Powerstation for their first local gig in a couple of years, expect enthusiasm and raucous live energy.
Overview
Midnight Youth were a fresh injection to the NZ music sound when they first cropped up on the scene a few years back. It didn't take long before they started a nabbing the awards either; Best Rock Album, Best Group and Most Played Song on New Zealand Radio for The Letter adding to their 2009 haul. They've been a little off the local radar for the past two years working on a new album entitled World Comes Calling as well as touring Australia and America. The gig this Friday is a chance for us to hear a wee sample of this new sound as well as the old tunes. If there's one thing we know about The Powerstation it's that it is the perfect venue for a rock show. Expect their enthusiasm and raucous live energy to be turned up a notch.
Joining Midnight Youth for this one-off show is Young Lyre. These Auckland lads are that band that you love to dance to no matter what, like those songs that come on the radio and you're lip syncing and having a wee-bop. Young Lyre have opened for international acts such as Green Day and Train as well as a handful of popular local acts in towns all across New Zealand.
To sweeten the deal, the tickets for the gig this Saturday are $20. Two awesome bands, one sweet venue, twenty simple dollars, easy peasy to do the math and figure it's well worth getting amongst. Ruffle up your locks, roll up your jeans, grab your boat shoes and kick start your weekend with some top notch local sounds at an iconic, sure-fire-good-night venue.
