Coldplay
Coldplay return with The Temper Trap as a curtain raiser. Oh yeeezie, I am so there.
Overview
Concert regret. That kick in the gut feeling when you were really close to buying tickets to a gig, decided against it and then heard about how mind blowing it was? Yeah, you know the one.
A couple of years ago when Coldplay came and I decided I'd be ok giving it a miss, I experienced said kick-in-gut feeling and swore I'd never miss them if they came again. Little did I know the chance would roll around so soon. Stoked.
Coldplay have just released their fifth album, Mylo Xyloto (I'm glad I'm typing right now as opposed to talking 'cause I haven't a clue how you'd pronounce that). Check out the attached clip where the band teams up with Rihanna. I wasn't sold on first play but given a few loops I'm boppin' along. It's also refreshing to see Coldplay venturing into new areas with their sound. Although, I think 'Fix You' will always be my spine-tingling favourite.
With Mylo Xyloto already approaching double platinum status in New Zealand, it's fair to say it's being well received. And like I said, based on the wows, OMGs and Facebook photos from last time they were here, it's a pretty safe bet they'll put on quite the show again.
Worth an equally excited mention is the opening act, The Temper Trap. I don't think I've met a single person that doesn't like 'Sweet Disposition' and their new material gets an approving nod from even the most musically judgmental of my friends. Funnily enough, The Temper Trap was another concert I skipped a few years back, so I'm amped about seeing them live and giving that box a tick too.
Birds with stones here, people. Birds with stones. Can't wait.
