Overview

From haka to break dancing, Atamira Dance Company's latest work KAHA is a dynamic and powerful collection of contemporary work.

A selection of eight short works, KAHA sees the return of acclaimed works Haka, Moko, Piata and Mitimiti from leading choreographers Moss Patterson, Taane Mete and Jack Gray. Alongside these works are  some impressive new performances that include a contemporary version of the haka.

KAHA also debuts a high energy work, performed to drum 'n' bass music from award winning choreographer Kelly Nash, who has previously worked with Douglas Wright and Shona McCullagh. The evening also shows its up-to-speed with modern pop culture with a full stage version of “Poi E” – as seen in Taika Waititi's Boy, and choreographed by long-standing Atamira member Dolina Wehipeihana.

KAHA will also be performing at Mangere Arts Centre on July 17 at 7:30pm and Telstra Clear Pacific Events Centre in Manukau on July 19 at 7:30pm as part of the Matariki Festival 2012.
