Overview

Bonita is the kind of place that you walk in to and feel at home. It's got that friendly neighbourhood local feel about it, though it could be a neighbourhood somewhere in the Marais. The décor is simple but tasteful, the atmospherically lit interior complete with paint liberating itself from the walls in a way that intimates old world European charm. Bonita makes the most of her features too. With outdoor seating both front and back, it's the ideal place to catch some afternoon rays and people watch, or to hide away.

Being as much a bar as a place to eat, the service at Bonita is fittingly casual. The drinks list features both local and imported wines and beers and they make a pretty decent caiprihinia. The menu has everything from the very nibbly, like roasted spicy peanuts and olives, to tapas and bigger plates to share, or not.

There are plenty of appetising choices and we were pleased with our selection of the garlic prawns, meatballs in red harissa, courgette fritters and patatas bravas. The dishes came neatly-presented with a little stack of bread on the side for mopping up all the tasty leftover sauce. I especially liked the fact you can order a small or large portion of the tapas plates.

All the times I've visited, there's been a good vibe and the added bonus is that you only need a handful of people to get the party started. The kind of place you could quite happily while away an evening, be it with a good friend or a good looking stranger. And if you're lucky enough to stumble in on a Thursday night, you'll be treated to a spot of live music.
