Overview

Nestled tightly in between two of the Viaduct’s swankiest bars, the area’s latest offering, Goldfinch, fits into the family quite nicely.

The city’s newest cocktail bar exudes a stylish aura, with a well-finished and well thought out interior. Upon entry, the outdoor area provides patrons with a cosy spot to rest while overlooking the Viaduct Basin. Akin to an alleyway, the entrance takes you through to a dimly lit U-shaped bar. The bar is surrounded by an array of couches, with seating areas to cater for small and large groups – cleverly situated close to the bar for boisterous bigger groups, or intimate settings for smaller numbers towards the rear.

The extensive cocktail list provides plenty to ponder. I recommend The Goldfinch itself, which is somewhat a combination of the unthinkable; Grey Goose vodka, chilli, watermelon and honey water.

Goldfinch is the ideal place to begin your night, or alternatively, wrap it up, with the dancefloor stealthily tucked away to the rear of the bar.
