In 1977 Essex hostess Beverly Moss is having a bit of a do. There's cheese, there's pineapple and yet the gin-soaked cracks are already starting to show.
The critically acclaimed Abigail’s Party was penned by Mike Leigh, a man better known for his bleak yet brilliant take on film. This play is a darkly funny and cringeworthy look at 1970s Britain through the window of suburban malaise. Sashay into the living room of upwardly mobile wannabes Beverly and Laurence as they entertain new neighbours Angela and Tony from over the road, and divorcee Susan from Number 9.
Actor Sam Snedden will have his directorial debut with a great local cast including Simon Vincent (Metamorphosis, Salon, Heat), Andi Crown (Go Girls), Sophie Roberts (The Weight of Elephants, The Laramie Project), Nic Sampson (Black Confetti) and Jacque Drew (Shortland Street).
