Overview

Alan Cumming is a man of many talents. He is a dynamic actor, widely celebrated for his work on the stage and screen. His list of credits ranges from Nightcrawler in X2: X-Men United to an award winning performance of Hamlet to Sex in the City. He has worked as a photographer, and perfumer (having released the humorously named fragrance line 'Cumming').

On top of his many professional ventures Cumming has been a tireless champion for LGBT civil rights and HIV. Cumming is also a writer of fiction and non-fiction. His most recent book Not My Fathers Son is an honest, touching and at times chilling account of his violent upbringing and family history. This year the Auckland Writers Festival presents Cumming in conversation with Auckland theatre actor and director Michel Hurst.
