An Evening with Andre Agassi

Tennis legend, Andre Agassi's visit could not be more timely, with Auckland's Heineken Open recently concluding, and our trans-tasman neighbours currently in the midst of hosting their Grand Slam, the Australian Open, which proved to be Agassi's most successful hunting ground.

Andre Agassi will be at Paper Plus Newmarket for a book signing of his award winning and critically acclaimed autobiography Open. Agassi's visit to New Zealand comes as he is the special guest for two gala dinners, in Auckland and Christchurch respectively. The evening event will include a three course dinner accompanied with matching fine wines, remarks by the tennis great himself, and a moderated, live audience interactive question, as well as live music.

Agassi’s book Open reached number one on the New York Times Best Seller list and it won the Autobiography category of the 2010 British Sports Book Awards. Open follows Agassi's delicate balance of professional sport and life's journey. Agassi turned pro at the tender age of 16 and was the first men’s singles player to win all four Grand Slam titles and an Olympic gold medal. Over his 20 year career he won 869 matches and earned 60 men’s singles titles.

The book has been described as a gripping read, written passionately about the rollercoaster ride of his career. Filled with emotion, Open is a confessional account, touching on everything from his hate for the game, and his use of methamphetamine in 2007.
