Overview
Man, I really love a good intimate gig. And it only seems fitting the week out from Christmas to go get cosy with someone a bit spesh and lull out to the hazy melodies of someone who knows how to do intimate to a tee.
Andrew Keoghan art pop is a bit of a fusion between the grooves of the early 80s and today's carefully constructed new folk. Sound a bit waffly? Check him out on YouTube and you'll get the gist. I'm gonna go with calling it 'Chamber Pop'.
Having recently returned from New York's CMJ Festival, Keoghan will perform songs this Wednesday evening at Q Theatre from his debut LP Arctic Tales Divide alongside percussionist Chris O'Connor from SJD. The pair's musical synergy is something quite special, shifting from sparse and delicate moments to bursts of electric guitars and violins. It's the kind of music you don't really have to know all that well in order to enjoy.
With support from She's So Rad, the evening will be rounded off with a late-night DJ set in the Q lounge from Mr Crawley. So if the Chrissy bug has got you tense, set some time aside on Wednesday to cruise down to Q. A couple of lazy wines and chilled out harmonies later, you'll be thanking us for it.
