Overview

Having made its way up and down the length of the country over the past month, the Aotearoa Surf Film Festival 2016 will come to an end at Mt Eden's The Crystal Palace on April 29.

Now in its fourth year, the festival celebrates the best of surf culture and our connection with the environment through a curated selection of international surf feature films, documentaries and short films.

The finale will be held across two sessions, both preceded by a selection of short films from the ASFF short film competition. Kicking off the main event at 6.30pm will be No Regrets, a short film about former world champ Ricky Basnett's return to surfing after eight years of alcohol abuse. The headline feature, Faroes The Outpost Vol 2, will follow, recounting the journey of six surfers as they attempt to unravel the dramatic coastline of the Faroe Islands.

Session two will kick off at 8.30pm with Norwegian film, Bjørnøya (Bear Island), on screen. The film shadows three brothers as they traverse a white, barren landscape in search of virgin waves where no one has surfed before. The additional catch is that one brother must stay ashore poised with a rifle for hungry Polar Bear.

The Roaming Dive food truck will be on site from 6pm, and the bar will be fully stocked with ice cold Coronas.

A single session pass will set you back $16 while a full night pass is $25.
