Overview
Artworks has selected interesting and dynamic works from over 100 of New Zealand's established and emerging artists for both exhibition and sale at Artworks 2011. Each day fresh works will be exhibited. The first Artworks’ exhibition was in 2002 and until 2008 was held every year. The event has raised over $1.1 million for charitable causes and it has provided New Zealand artists with over $1.7 million of income.
Below is a list of events held at this year's Artwork Exhibition:
ARTWORKS MASTERCLASS - AMAZING ACRYLICS
Trish Currie, presenter of Master Classes, Graduate of the Whitecliffe College of Art & Design and recipient of an Advanced Diploma of Art and Design has, for ten years, managed many aspects of Winsor & Newton activity in New Zealand including their specialist product training program. This session will examine what makes a good acrylic paint, the properties that make acrylic paints unique and will explore how you can manipulate these properties with different painting techniques and mediums.
Each participant will receive a complementary pack of Winsor & Newton products to the value of $50. Tickets also include unlimited entry to the Artworks exhibition.
ARTWORKS MASTERCLASS - ART THAT STANDS THE TEST OF TIME
The lifespan of an artwork is largely dependant on the materials used and how they are applied. Gain an understanding of the properties and application of the materials you use to ensure your art making will stand the test of time.
ARTWORKS MASTERCLASS - OILS, OILS, AND MORE OILS
This session will cover a variety of oil colours available today, traditional, water mixable and fast drying oil as well as oils in stick form. Come along and try them all out yourself.
