Auckland Pride Parade 2014

Overview

Concrete Playground has a double pass to give away to the Auckland Pride Parade GABA Glam Zone, a special VIP area at Western Park on February 22. Email auckland@concreteplayground.co.nz with the subject line PRIDE along with your name and mobile number to go in the draw.

It's the highlight of Auckland Pride Festival for many and it's easy to see why. The Auckland Pride Parade brings with it all sorts of visual splendour from flamboyant floats to over the top drag queens and buff guys strutting their stuff down Ponsonby Rd.

The parade route travels in a northerly direction up Ponsonby Rd from Western Park to Three Lamps. There will be parking restrictions and Ponsonby Rd will be closed to traffic from 4pm to 10pm so if you're not a local, arriving by bus is probably your best option. The parade is shifting to the early evening so that revellers can go straight on to the final event of the festival, Proud Closing Party at Victoria Park Market.

If you'd prefer to watch the parade from a special VIP area than get amongst the crowds you can buy a ticket to the GABA Glam Zone aka Rainbow Island hosted by the Gay Business Association. Tickets are $85 for GABA members and $95 for non-members. Entry into the seated area includes vodka and candy floss as well as exclusive pre-show performances and celebrity MCs at Western Park.
