Auckland Rainbow Parade 2024
The LGBTQIA+ community and its allies will be marching down Ponsonby Road's main drag this weekend.
Overview
Grab your glitter, don your most colourful clothes, and get ready to wave your rainbow flag because it's almost time for the Auckland Rainbow Parade. On Saturday, February 17, the LGBTQIA+ community and its allies will be marching down Ponsonby for one of the most vibrant and fun events of the season.
The 2024 event will mark the second time that the parade will be on wheels, with Auckland Rainbow Parade's co-chair Matt Bagshaw promising "more lights, floats, glitter, love and colour". If you want to support the community but can't find any colour in your wardrobe, organisers will be handing out rainbow flags to all parade-goers.
Pre-parade celebrations kick off at 5.30pm, with colourful activations and activities up and down Ponsonby Road. The real fun begins at 7pm, with the likes of Fire and Emergency New Zealand, Hato Hone St John, drag queens and dancers from DANZA Dance Studio sailing down the main road on eye-catching floats, outrageous get-ups and showing their unwavering support for Auckland's LGBTQIA+ community.
For those wanting to secure a prime seat, ticketed spaces are available for Smirnoff's Grandstand — which is set to be a prime viewing location. A seat in the stand is $35, but watching the parade from street level is completely free.
