Overview

It’s only been six months since the sausage met the burrito and Bangerritos were born on the footpath of Ponsonby Road. Yet, in that time the hybrid product has managed to sizzle its way to the meat section of stores around the city, and peek into the market across the ditch.

Auckland’s Ben Polkinghorne is the man behind the meat marriage. The advertising creative and burrito fanatic endeavoured to make a product that showcases the loveable ingredients of the cylindrical Mexican meal and put them in sausage form for convenience. Upon meeting fellow sausage aficionados, the idea came to fruition and has been steadily on the rise ever since.

Polkinghorne and his company are now ready to launch the next link in the family - a free range chicken Bangerrito marinated in Jose Cuervo tequila. To celebrate the new addition, a party will be thrown.

As well as the opportunity to get your hands on the new variety, the original Bangerrito will be available for order, served as it should in a tortilla with fresh guacamole, hot sauce and sour cream.
