Overview

If you find it difficult relating to the themes in old fashioned plays, then the new piece by Australian playwright Ian Meadows will most certainly have you lining up at the box office.

Between Two Waves is an exploration of the human side to the most pressing issue of our time – climate change. Heralded as a romantic comedy/drama, the story follows Daniel, a climatologist and government advisor who has ironically lost a lifetime of research in the worst floods the country has ever witnessed. As the world is literally crumbling around him, Daniel also finds himself coming to grips with the fact that his other half Fiona is expecting a baby, as well as asking the question - how do we find happiness in the face of an uncertain future?

Following its debut run through Australia, Between Two Waves received praise like “an involving drama and a powerful portrait of anxiety in today’s insecure world,” “a work of immense and lasting impact,” and “a gently unsettling portrait of the times we live in.”

The New Zealand premiere stars Emmett Skilton of Almighty Johnsons fame, and Shara Connolly as seen on Go Girls.
