Bluff oyster season is here. To celebrate the arrival of the Southland aphrodisiacs, the folks at Auckland waterfront restaurant Harbourside Ocean Bar & Grill are inviting you to scoff as many of the light and briny delights as humanly possibly.
This year, one all-you-can-eat event will take place on Friday, 8 March. The extended feasting session will kick off with a flute of Champagne on arrival before the oysters are presented across two rounds. First, diners will be served a selection of natural oysters with shallots, vinegars and lemon, before they come beer battered and panko crumbed with wasabi cream and tartar. To follow will be a selection of fresh sashimi.
If that's not enough kai moana, for the main course Harbourside will present an epic seafood platter comprising Queensland prawns, crispy squid, Canadian scallops and Coromandel mussels — for those who haven't had their fill, extra oysters will be available by request. A selection of house petit fours and New Zealand cheeses will finish off the experience. See the full menu here.
