Overview

The fusion band Calexico is performing at the Powerstation. Borrowing their name from a small town of less than 40,000 inhabitants on the border between the US and Mexico, the band predominantly takes its inspiration from the US' country heritage and the latino feel of Mexico.

Their seventh and latest album, Algiers was recorded in the city of New Orleans and while being quintessentially Calexico, their new sound also features touches of "Portugese fado, 50’s jazz, gypsy or romani music and its offshoots, 60’s surf and twang from Link Wray to country’s Duane Eddy, the spaghetti western epics of Ennio Morricone and dark indie rock.”

Head over to their website for a free download of their song 'Para'.
