Auckland's Museum of Transport and Technology has had a busy year, hosting everything from drive-in movie experiences to adults-only dark carnivals. In line with the silly season, the Western Springs venue is sharing the magic of Christmas with twelve evenings of festive fun and entertainment.

The grounds of the Museum will be transformed into a fairy-lit wonderland complete with a light tunnel, festive movies on the big screen and food trucks serving up the goods. And it wouldn't be a Southern Hemisphere Christmas without a dose of ice and snow — so this year organisers have shipped in an outdoor skating rink. The rink will be open for 20-minute sessions, with tickets ranging from $10–15 for the little ones and kidults to have a spin.

Elsewhere, the trams will be in operation, there will be plenty of arts and crafts, and Santa will be on hand for photo opportunities. The film schedule is jam-packed with festive hits across the series from December 13 to 24, including Fred Claus, Home Alone, The Santa Clause, Elf and The Grinch. All that plus live music and a partridge in a pear tree.

Entry is $2.
