Overview

Auckland's Museum of Transport and Technology has had a busy year, hosting everything from drive-in movie experiences to adults-only dark carnivals. In line with the silly season, the Western Springs venue is sharing the magic of Christmas with twelve evenings of festive fun and entertainment.

From 11–13 and then 16–24 December, the grounds of the Museum will be transformed into a fairy light-lit wonderland complete with festive movie screenings, live Christmas carollers, card making and lolly making demonstrations. And it wouldn't be Christmas without a dose of ice and snow — so this year organisers have arranged cold white stuff to fall from the heavens in the Discovery Dome.

Beautifully lit trams will be running to the end of Great North Road and the man in red will be on hand for photo opportunities. The film schedule is jam-packed with festive hits across the series from December 11 to 24, including Elf, The Grinch, The Polar Express and Arthur Christmas. All that plus food trucks and a partridge in a pear tree.

Entry is $2 for children and $5 for adults. The event will not run on 14 and 15 December.
