Overview

Whether you appreciate art, do art, or are a bonafide art extraordinaire, you might want to check out Auckland's indie arts festival, Chromacon. Local illustrators, comic artists, designers, animators and video game developers unite to share their talents with each other, art enthusiasts and the general public. Head along if you're interested in New Zealand art and chatting to the artists themselves about their craft, and even get a few tips and tricks for your own toolbox.

Entertainment on the day consists of live drawing and painting demonstrations, where you can see a piece of art evolve from a rough draft into a masterpiece. Listen to panels of artists talk about themselves, their art, and New Zealand's creative environment.

Amongst the talent is Brendan Boughen, known for his cartoons that promise a good pun, as well as Scott Savage, who is a graphic designer who would rather spend his time creating artistic figures that look like kids toys, but upon further examination, are probably more suited to adults. Local illustrators Joseph Qiu, Kayla Oliver, and Malangeo also make the line up of artistic talent in store for the event.
