Overview

Churgles of delight, a healthy dose of gobblefunking and a whole lot of zozimus will fill Auckland's Town Hall on 11 May when musical theatre performer Elise McCann joins the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra (APO) to present her irreverently wicked show.

Dahlesque is a celebration of all things Roald Dahl. Written by McCann and Richard Carroll, it features music from adaptations of the author's classic stories including Matilda, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, James and the Giant Peach, and original compositions of Dahl's Revolting Rhymes.

Expect to hear the jazzy 'Oompa Loompa' and the James Bond title track, 'You Only Live Twice', for which Dahl incidentally wrote the screenplay. The APO will be conducted by David Kay with musical arrangements by Stephen Amos. There will be two sessions on the day.
