Overview

Deli Man is the third work in a trilogy of documentaries about Jewish culture by director Erik Greenberg Anjou.

The doco tells the story of the charming Yiddish-speaking French trained chef Ziggy Gruber, a third-generation deli man who operates one of the most infamous delicatessen restaurants across America, Kenny & Ziggy's.

Once a common site on every street corner, there are now only 150 authentic kosher delis in the entire U.S. Gruber’s own experience of keeping the 160-year-old deli tradition alive, through daunting economic and demographic odds, is paired by those of fellow legendary Jewish delis across America, and commentary from deli devotees Larry King and Jerry Stiller.
