EA Art and Music Festival

A conscious space to reimagine, reframe and engage with local community.

Overview

Creations that rise beyond the surface, engage with society and explore cultural transformation; that's exactly what the inaugural EA Art and Music Festival intends to showcase. Presented by Panuku Development Auckland and expat creatives Cleo Barnett, Paris Kirby and Bronson Price, the festival is a one day celebration of contemporary socially conscious artists and activists in Auckland.

The trio say the essence of the festival is "to open up a conscious space to reimagine, reframe and engage with our local community. We want to dance, explore, communicate and investigate together, to grow stronger together. It was important to find a name for the festival that translates across multiple languages, that takes on multiple meanings, and that steps away from our dominate colonial worldview."

Taking place one day before the autumn equinox on Sunday 19 March, themes of transition, knowledge sharing and community empowerment will be explored. The general public are invited to participate, touch, smell, taste and even become part of the work that will be created by 30 intergenerational artists through immersive installations, live music, site specific art installations, and diverse food stalls.
