Overview

Formerly known as 'Q Presents', MATCHBOX is audacious ideas crafted by emerging and established talents. Surfacing from the theatre's creative development programme, the selected works are triple threats, chosen for their unique audience experience, risky storytelling and staging that pushes Q's transformative venue to loftier heights.

Award-winning collective Black Sheep Productions (How to Make Friends and Still Appear Normal) incorporates contemporary dance, dialogue and a capella against a backdrop of projected visuals and a haunting original score with their new theatrical dance work Everything Anyone Ever Wanted. Plunging into the disenchanted minds of millenials, the production explores the philosophical predicament twenty-somethings find themselves in. This generation is in pursuit of happiness, yet there is a growing sense of disappointment.

Everything Anyone Ever Wanted investigates the chasm between a desirable transient lifestyle and the traditional concept of adulthood. Modern day anxieties are turned source material for this bold production by a creative collective unafraid to display vulnerability in their work. Dancers Sofia McIntyre, Benjamin Mitchell, Emmanuel Reynaud and Rosa Strati perform the broken hopes and dreams, in a dark but beautiful exploration of imagined ideals lost in translation to reality.
