Overview

New Zealand is blessed with a bountiful land filled with unique flora and fauna. Experience the marriage of foraging and fine dining this Restaurant Month with a night of wild ingredients designed to evoke the senses. Foraged at O'Connell St Bistro is for those seeking new ways to experience food and open their mind to the way we view foraging.

Of Te Arawa and Ngāti Porou descent, Riki Bennet is a highly experienced forager, an Auckland Council park ranger, musician and an environmental educator. Riki is a strong advocate for traditional Māori music, culture and cuisine and has a keen understanding of forest food and medicinal herbs or rongoā.

Alongside Riki is celebrated New Zealand chef Mark Southen, executive chef at O'Connell Street Bistro and James Beck of two-hatted Napier restaurant, Bistronomy. Riki, Mark and James will take guests on a culinary journey featuring foraged ingredients with the effortless charm and finesse they are all known for.

Throughout the evening you will smell, feel and touch the ingredients in their natural state, allowing you to discover a new level of appreciation for the food before indulging in a sophisticated and exquisite five-course dinner expertly matched with an award-winning selection of wines. Walk on the wild side this restaurant month and enjoy a fine dining, foraging feast.
