It's almost the spookiest day of the year, Halloween — and where better to celebrate than Auckland's coolest street? FREAKOUT on Karangahape Road is back just in time for the scariest of weekends, with a whole lot of spooky activities to choose from, all happening on Saturday, November 28.

Get your skeletons out of the closet and dust off your broomsticks because the K'Road team want you to dress to depress this weekend. Don't like your outfit? Why not swap it out? Crushes will be holding a costume swap for those who have been plagued with the last-minute horror of uncertainty.

If you're in the mood to do some scary spending, pop into the Halloween Market at St Kevin's Arcade, running from 6.30-9pm.

Quite a few establishments along the famous strip are getting involved in FREAKOUT, with offers like a free drink at Mexicali with any purchase over $14, and seriously scary musical performances at Whammy Bar, The Wine Cellar, Galatos and Northern Line Bar.

There are also a variety of parties happening up and down the road on Saturday, including Beats and Brushes' special Halloween paint party, where you can take your most devilish thoughts out on the canvas in front of you — with an art teacher's guidance, of course.

Also on the agenda is Family Bar's Hallo Queen, deemed the Karangahape horror show. Beginning at 10pm and running until 4am, patrons are encouraged to don their scariest gear for a costume parade, with prizes for the best dressed.

Setting the backdrop for the night is visual artist Cat Ellis, who will be providing the creepiest of laser light shows throughout St Kevins Arcade and the former Naval and Family Hotel. To top it all off, there will be roaming performers up and down K'Road, so you won't go a minute without being entertained — or scared out of your mind.
