Overview

Theatre helps us understand what it means to be human, so what better way to stay clued into society's thoughts and feelings than by going along to three live shows personally written by New Zealand's young emerging artists? Auckland Theatre Company brings Here & Now, an annual Festival that champions rising artists by giving them the space and professional mentors to help cultivate and perform their stories.

This festival season Here & Now features three plays. Tender brazenly plunges into the world of love, sex and relationships; Alice, a celebration of how ridiculous and beautiful our lives can be, follows a group of friends who are thrust into strange mysterious scenarios including clubs, cabins and malls; You First is set in Aotearoa's distant future after a disastrous storm topples the rules of society and teenagers must complete dangerous dares or disappear.

Also included in this inspired festival are free events. Sure, networking isn't for all of us but if a professional theatre company is welcoming you with open arms then why wouldn't you go? These free events, including a big schmooze and open mic sessions, will spark interesting, revealing, dynamic experiences for all.
