Hypnotic Brass Ensemble

Throw in a few trobones and trumpets and you've got one hell of a night ahead of you.

Overview

You've probably heard the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble's delicious cover of Outkast's "spottieottiedopaliscious" looping on George FM without realising who they are. To be honest, I didn't even know who they were until a little while ago. The first time I ever caught wind of these smooth operators was when a good friend of mine came home from WOMAD a few years ago. She quite literally couldn't stop raving about this crew of brass instrument players who got up on stage playing outrageously rad, jazzy tunes with a Mayer Hawthorne-esque level of swag, except better.

This Saturday the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble are playing at The Powerstation and even though I only heard about the gig the other day, I've scrapped all my other plans to make sure I see them. And you should too. Have a quick google. At first glance they kind of look as though they belong in a Kanye West video. I mean, to be fair, trucker caps and trombones don't normally go hand in hand, but then again bumping and grinding with your instruments isn't that normal either - but they pull that off too.

I can guarantee after a quick You Tube session you'll be looping while you're swooping before their first track is even half way through.
