Overview

Don't be fooled by this Canadian rock duo's portmanteau stage name. Japandroids are in fact from Vancouver and are preparing to perform a string of shows around the country later this year.

The group, consisting of guitarist/vocalist Brian King, and drummer/vocalist David Prowse, earned the pair praise for their 'energetic, live performances' throughout 2009-10. Their second album, Celebration Rock, was released twelve months ago.

The name 'Japandroids' comes from two other band name ideas: Japanese Scream (Prowse's idea) and Pleasure Droids (King's idea). The pair would also occasionally spell it without vowels as JPNDRDS. They have made numerous appearances on television shows including Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, Last Call With Carson Daly, Conan and Late Show With David Letterman.
