Johnny Marr
The fourth best guitarist (in the world) of the last 30 years.
Overview
Johnny Marr, a founding member of The Smiths and guitarist for every man and his dog, will play one show in New Zealand.
Having played shows in Melbourne and Sydney earlier this year, Marr’s next jaunt down under will be his first visit as a solo artist. He released his debut solo album The Messenger in February 2013 to critical acclaim from NME, and is due to unleash his sophomore solo effort Playland on October 3, 2014.
In a poll conducted by the BBC, Marr was voted as the fourth best guitarist of the last 30 years, and one look at his CV is proof enough. He’s previously held down axe duties for the likes of Modest Mouse, Beck, Talking Heads, Crowded House and Oasis, and even shared the mic with former Beatle, Paul McCartney.
