Overview

Whether it's delicious barbecue or K-pop, everyone has a soft spot for the cuisine, art and culture that comes from Korea. This spring sees the Korean Film Festival returning to Auckland and Hamilton for viewers to enjoy the best of Korean cinema for 2019.

The entirely free film festival is organised by the Korean Consulate in Auckland and the Korean Cinerama Trust to promote and educate on Korean culture. Hosted by the much-loved Academy Cinemas, enjoy the intimate cinema setting right in the heart of the city. A total of eight films will be shown for absolutely free, including Bong Joon-ho's Parasite, which won the top award at Cannes for 2019, South Korean crime drama Dark Figure of Crime, pencil-drawn animation Green Days, and Swing Kids, a musical drama set in the Korean War.

All the films will be shown in Korean with English subtitles, so any non-speaker can still follow along. Tickets can be booked for each session by calling Academy Cinemas.
