Overview
Adding an extra sparkle to this year's Matariki celebrations is Light and Sound at Silo Park. Along with many other great festival events, Silo Park is transformed into an open air gallery of light-based installations.
One of the centrepieces of Light and Sound is the interactive sound installation in Silo 6, Te Pou Korero; Pou meaning post and Korero meaning to speak, or story. Te Pou Korero is an invitation for visitors to tell their stories using the contemporary and familiar medium of the telephone using any language. Over the final weekend of the Matariki Festival, the stories will become an immersive audio installation in keeping with one of the guiding principles of Matariki 2013, manaakitanga: sharing your world with others.
Light and Sound at Silo Park will feature lit sculptures, projections and performances from artists around New Zealand.
