Overview

The Auckland Festival of Photography brings together artists from every corner of the globe to present their work in places like major galleries, pop-up spaces and public sites.

As part of this year’s festival, three contemporary photographers from Lithuania will find their work exhibited a world away from the Baltic paradise, within the surrounds of a North Shore shopping centre. The collection was chosen for its wide spread appeal and represents the country with photography from the air, sea and street.

Over Mindaugas Kavaliauskas’ decade long project, travel'AIR, the photographer sought out to showcase both the routine as well as constantly changing facets of modern day air travel. “It joins up space and time; advertising images become reality, ease, comfort meets fatigue, stress, luxury tawdriness, and dreams crash into reality.”

In Edis Jurcys’ Crossing Waters he explores the time spent on urban and short-distance ferries, capturing everything from reflections, the water, seagulls, and strangers.

Started in 2013, Donatas Stankevicius’ Old Drivers takes drivers and places them in a setting to look like something out of a film. Each character has over 50 years experience and is photographed on their own and away from the bustle of the real city.

The exhibition is coming to New Zealand by the way of in Sydney's Head On festival.
