Overview

For their next club night at downtown party institution, Cassette Nine, local promoters Madcap will bring rising jersey duo Eastern Bloc all the way up from Wellington.

The duo made up of DJ Marek and Beat Mob came together after discovering they had a mutual love of straight vodka, club music and shared European heritage. Their musical output spans a blend of club/jersey/rap/house/bounce/trap and bass music genres, an eclectic combination that will entice the most stubborn of club-goers to the dance floor. Having spent most of their short musical career remixing others, the pair recently dropped their own track called ‘Pop Like’. The infectious track is the first cut from their forthcoming debut EP Flamingo, due for release later in the year.

Also along for the ride is Boycrush, the project of Alistair Deverick. Usually found behind the drum kit for the likes of Neil Finn, Anika Moa, The Ruby Suns, Lawrence Arabia, Deverick first performed under the Boycrush moniker while taking part in the Red Bull Music Academy in Madrid. He has released two EPs of his brand of electro-pop.

Rounding off the line-up is the allusive Laptop Speakers, who is part of the Red Bull Sound Select collective, and DJs Samuel Harmony and Duped.
