Whether you're new to the city or you've just struggled to really click with a crew, Karanghape Road store Crushes is coming to the rescue with a new speed dating night — all about finding that elusive thing called 'adult friendships'. As part of the store's new Social Club, it's providing a stacked lineup of fun things to do in Tāmaki Makarau this spring — and things are kicking off with 'Meet a Mate: Friendship Speed Dating' this Sunday, September 18.

Don't fret — it's not some scary scene where you risk getting no matches. Instead, the Crushes team promise "a fun, totally chill and non-judgmental environment" so we can all come together and "defrost" from years of COVID isolation and lockdowns.

You'll be seated and given handy conversation prompts like 'podcast recommendations', and 'dogs or cats'? Feel a vibe with someone? When the formalities end, there will be some casual group mingling so you can exchange Insta handles, or make a date for a group hot girl walk or cocktails — whatever your vibe is.

It's all going down at Bestie in St Kevins Arcade at 6.30pm — but Crushes will be open late so you can dip in for some light shopping beforehand to ease your nerves. Tickets to the event cost $30pp.
