Overview
Mercury Plaza's been a favourite on K' Road since forever, and we'll always be thankful for the memories. But in under two months the beloved food court will be packing it in to make way for the City Rail Link.
From wonton noodle soup, to ramen, sushi and everything in between, Mercs has been filling bellies for over 25 years — making it not just a place to eat, but a place to call home.
With doors shutting on 31 October, fans will be flocking from near and far. But for those of you wanting to celebrate its life, a closing party will take place on 14 September.
The Mercury Plaza: Origins + New Beginnings exhibition will celebrate Chinese artists in Tāmaki Makaurau with the overarching themes of 'origins' and 'new beginnings'. Curated by local artists Joni Lee and Jia Luo, the exhibition will take over two major areas of Mercs, including a giant wall by the entrance and the ramp access next to New Gum Sarn Supermarket. The final day of the show will see artists break open their surprise-filled sculptures to welcome a new beginning in Mercury Lane.
Attendees can also expect music from Imugi, Suren Unka, Dylan Cook, Taejin and more. Click here for more on that.
