Overview

Instead of running with your traditional Sunday roast and all the trimmings, Auckland restaurant brand Mexico are transforming the day of sabbath into a day for the family, headed by their electric and contemporary take on Mexican cuisine, plus cheap sangria.

Every Sunday, Mexico will present Day of the Familia with an aim of gathering families to share a meal and conversation. Still tipping its hat to the conventional Sunday bird, the mouthwatering $45 banquet menu will be led by a black cumin and pomegranate charred whole chicken. Additional items include: patatas de maiz, avocado and tomatillo salsa, pineapple pico de gallo, citrus-cured red onion, totopo, pink radish and jalapeño pickle, and flour tortillas to wrap everything up in a neat wee parcel.

For families looking to turn the outing into Sunday session, sangria will be available by the carafe for $15. Kids under 12 also eat free when their parents dine. Day of the Familia will be held at the four Mexico locations across Auckland (Ponsonby, Britomart, Ellerslie, Takapuna).
