Overview

Celebrating its 21st year, this is a favourite Auckland festival for many. Where else can you see such a diversity of Pacific talent? Staples include traditional and contemporary vibrant song and dance performances, bustling markets and of course the food - chop suey, coconut milk and pineapples loaded with icecream and tropical fruit to name a few.

The festival is made up of ten distinct island villages dotted around the park – Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Niue, Samoa, Tahiti, Tonga, Tokelau, Tuvalu and Aoteoroa – are all represented.

The festival has expanded to two days and organises say this year will feature even more authentic and traditional Pasifika villages. For the first time a multi-denominational church service will be held on the Prosperity stage on Sunday morning, under the theme of ‘many nations, one god’.

Head along on Saturday between 10am to 5pm, although try to avoid the middle of the day if you don't like crowds. Sunday's Pasifika Festival Church Service will be held from 9am to 10am and the festival will continue between 10am and 4pm.
