Overview

American indie rock band Passion Pit are returning to Auckland to perform at the Powerstation.

The band are to play tracks from their latest album Gossamer, as well as popular songs from their previous album, Manners. The group derived their name with reference to drive-in theatres - 'because of their privacy and romantic allure for teenagers'.

Passion Pit is dubbed 'the dynamic musical mission of Michael Angelakos' (lead vocalist and keyboardist). He is known as 'the electronic wunderkind, best known for his complex and multi-layered pop songs'.

The group's song, Moth's Wings, has been widely utilised commercially, featuring in Gossip Girl, an HBO television show, the EA Sports video game FIFA 10, the film 'Life As We Know It', for a dance routine in So You Think You Can Dance, and finally, as the background theme for the UEFA  Champions League. Many of their songs have experienced the same success.
