Overview
Queens Wharf will appropriately be the destination for Queen's Birthday festivities this year. The annual community event will strike a chord with expats of the sovereign state, celebrating the best of British culture across three days.
Key offerings of the weekend include the Queen's Birthday Makers' Market which promises specially imported products from the UK, along with local crafts, art and fashion. The entertainment programme features a pop-top caravan with guest DJs spinning the very best of British tunes, the Auckland City Brass band, Scottish tribal band Clan Celtica in their full regalia, the Doyle Academy of Irish Dance, maypole dancers performing the 1300's folk dance, and master puppeteer Jonathon Acorn.
To fully immerse visitors in Brit culture, a double-decker bus will be on a continuous loop of the precinct all weekend and a rotating display of vintage cars will reveal what they drive in the old country.
Home baking enthusiasts will also have the chance to see how their wares stack up in the Grand Cake-off and there will be High Tea upstairs at the Cloud. All that plus carnival games and rides, innit.
