Get ready to laugh your bits off.

Overview

There is no two ways about it — Rhys Mathewson is bloody hilarious. Critics and audiences around the world agree, as he's the youngest ever recipient of both the Billy T Comedy Award, and the prestigious Fred Award, which marked his show Nouveau Rhys as the best at last year's International Comedy Festival.

He's also spent time on Three's 7Days, as a writer on The Project and sharpening his abilities at the Edinburgh Fringe and on the UK comedy circuit, where he found similar acclaim amongst international audiences.

Previous Comedy Festivals have seen Rhys tapdance, fashion a lyrca unitard and tear his hamstring while attempting a highkick. While it may not be classic standup, it's classic Rhys. This year, Rhys is back again bringing his signature brand of intelligent comedy, laced with biting one liners and oddball charm. He's stepping it up a notch and attempting to take things seriously — touching on how being self-employed isn't all it's cracked up to be, how Lance Armstrong is as important as the environment, and what it means to be Polynesian. Or it might just be a show about how at some point in the future, he wants to wear white pants.

This is guaranteed to be one of the funniest shows at this year's NZ International Comedy Festival — not a bad option if you only go to one. Grab tickets, get ready to laugh your bits off and see a man who's been called one of New Zealand's funniest comedians.
