If you lack motivation to get out and exercise, this event might just be the one for you. Run For Your Freakin Life is a race where physical exertion is the least of your worries. The first-of-its-kind in New Zealand event is one part five-kilometre run, one part obstacle course and one part escaping the clutches of terrifying zombies.

The concept is simple: participants are given a flag belt that represents vigour; the zombies want to take your flags; if you lose all flags, you die; if you are unable to complete an obstacle, you need to surrender one of your flags.

This year's horror run will be held at Spookers on Saturday 12 May 2018. The five-kilometre course will include parts of the Kingseat grounds, the Freaky Forest and areas of neglected zombie-infested paddocks and scrub. There will be more than 20 physically challenging obstacles along the course, which may include climbing, crawling and getting covered in mud.

Dressing up is encouraged. Competitors must be at least 13 years old on race day to participate.
