Overview

This winter, something big is coming to Auckland Museum.

Direct from the Australian National Maritime Museum, Sea Monsters is an exhibition of over 70 displays featuring prehistoric ocean predators. The monsters of the deep will land in the Museum's Special Exhibition Hall from Wednesday, 7 July to Sunday, 17 October, where visitors will have the opportunity to see real fossils up close and gigantic replicas — including a nine-metre-long Prognathodon and a 13-metre-long Elasmosaur.

Discover if fossilised bones can tell us how these prehistoric ocean predators lived and how they compare to today's top ocean predators. With an immersive video projection and over a dozen hands-on interactive activations, there's plenty to see and do at this new exhibition.
